Does the payment show as completed or pending in your online banking?

If the money in on an authorisation hold, it should fall off within 30 days, if the payment clears, then you'll need to ring EE

realistically, no money will have been taken if you fail a credit check

You should receive a refund within 14 days.

It's just pending. It'll just drop off your bank a/c when EE do not continue with your order.
