Hello, I have recently enquired via EE Twitter messages to have a 5G external antenna installed. The person I spoke to said yes EE installs antennas using a company called TSG, for £100. I phone EE business technical support to book this the other they say they only do 4G antennas. Would anyone know if they do 5G antennas as hearing two different things would like some clarification. Many thanks.

They Install, or have done, 2 different types of Antennas, one covers All the 4G Bands, the other Covers All the 4G and 5G Bands, both Antenna Types are 2 Cable Ports for 2x2 Mimo Only.
TSG use Antennas supplied by EE which is sourced from a UK Manufacturer based in London, if you can find out the Antenna Model Number they intend to Install I should be able to confirm which version it is, and also confirm your Router Model number.
Thats the easy bit, the 4G and the 5G Antenna will work on a 4G Router, the 4G Antenna will not work on most 5G Routers (or give very poor results), the 5G Antenna will work on a 5G Router but only for the 5G Upper Band (n78), so its important to note that the 5G Router has the ability to pull in and use a 4G Signal on its own Internal Antennas, then (the plan is), the External Antennas enhances the 5G (n78) Signal.

Thankyou for this information. I will contact them to confirm this. I have the newer 5GEE home router. So will ask them what model the antenna is with hope they have the 4G / 5G one.
Regards,
Andy.

I'm sure you realise this, but also bear in mind there's no such thing as a 4G/5G antenna as such. What the CS agent is alluding to (probably without realising) is as already mentioned by @EssexBoyEE - all EE's radio technologies use different frequency bands.
EE's 5G deployments on Bands 1 & 3 use re-farmed spectrum also use for 4G service.

Ok, as said previously most 5G Routers External Antenna Ports will not work at 4G, as in the Ports will not receive signals below 3.3Ghz, so hence why 5G n78 Band Only. Having said that if your Router is the newer EE 5G 2021/2 (Zyxel NR5103) that has 4 x External Antenna Ports with a Master Switch for all 4, and lets just say your going to have Fun and Games with that Router and using a External Antenna.
Might be worth making a Pot of Tea, put your Feet up and have a read of the Thread(s) here -
