Scam text from NEXT?

Colinbirch

I have suddenly started receiving texts apparently from NEXT regarding NEXT sales events. I am suspicious as I do not have NEXT in my contacts so I'm not sure how these texts show up as coming from NEXT. There are links in the texts which I have not followed. However I did text NEXT to 88440 to stop the texts but this hasn't worked so I think it's a scam. Is there any way to block texts?

On my iPhone long press on the text and select"..." You should see an option for "block this caller".

I'm sure modern androids have a similar function around there somewhere!

@Colinbirch  you don’t need NEXT in your contacts to receive a genuine text from NEXT.     NEXT use a service that replaces the phone number thats sent the text to their name.   Just like EE do.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

My Samsung Galaxy A3 is not exactly "modern"! I can't do the same trick as you on your iPhone but I'll take a look.

It's actually a long press on the text header the but that says NEXT in a circle!

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

You know what? I would say A3 qualifies as modern and uses Samsung's android fork. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't there somewhere!!!

Press down on the msg & a menu will appear incl. Forward.
