EE Community,
I am reaching out to you all with a question about a potential scam caller that has been targeting me. The number is +44 7973 100606 and they have been refusing to give any identifying information about themselves, but immediately asking for mine.
I also received a text with an address that appears to be from an EE phone text line, but I cannot confirm that it is definitely from EE. It sent a text simply show email address, keven.*************@ee.co.uk, but with no other notes. I'm not sure if this is a real EE contact or if it's a scam, and I need your help to find out.
I've seen tweets and posts going back years from other people asking the same thing and websites warning about this number pretending to be from EE. When I spoke to the caller, they seemed to already have some information about me but wouldn't give me any specific details unless I gave them a lot of information about myself.
I'm not certain if this is a scam, but I would like to know if anyone else has had this same experience or if anyone can confirm if this is a legitimate EE contact. Please share any information you have, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

Many outbound calls from 07973 100xyz numbers are genuine EE calls, on this basis I tried calling 07973 100606 with my CLI withheld and the recorded announcement is self-explanatory.
It's good practice to ensure you're comfortable with the identity of any callers wanting details.
It's also a tad unfair on the potential staff owner of that email address to post it on an open internet forum - it may be wise to remove that unless the site admins beat you to it.

Thanks for getting back to me and for checking into this number. I really appreciate it. You're right, it's good practice to be sure of who you're talking to before giving out any personal information.
I went ahead and removed the email address from my previous message, I understand that it's not fair to post someone's email address on an open forum, I was wondering if this might be an identifier if it’s a scam.
I guess I'm just wondering what I should be asking or looking for when someone calls me and they're asking for my personal information but they're not willing to give me any information about themselves? Is there something specific I should be looking out for to make sure it's a legit call from EE?
Thanks for your help!

Hello EE Community,
I am reaching out to you all with a question regarding how to identify legitimate calls from EE. Recently, I received a call from a number, +44 7973 100606, and the caller was asking for my personal information, but they refused to give me any information about themselves. This has left me feeling unsure of whether or not the call was legitimate and from EE.
I understand that it's important to be cautious when giving out personal information over the phone, and I want to make sure that I am able to identify legitimate calls from EE in the future. Is there something specific that I should be asking or looking for when someone calls me and they're asking for my personal information but not willing to give me any information about themselves?
I would greatly appreciate any advice or tips that the EE community can provide. I want to ensure that I am able to protect myself from potential scams and phishing attempts.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I’ve just seen that somebody has merged my two separate topics
1. About a specific phone number.
2. About advice for how to identify if the person calling is actually from.EE, if they won’t give you any identifying aspects about your account.
I’m conscious that somebody has merged these two threads. Ideally, I would like them to remain separate and to get advice via the thread specifically set up for advice. Thanks.

@Profile closed Your posting the same thread twice so it’ll be merged, you might of titled them differently but it’s the same and what you are asking can be answered together, no need to repeat yourself. If you’re not happy when any customer service agent calls you not just from EE but from any company and especially if you’re not expecting that call then you simply hang up and call the company yourself.
Never give personal information when you receive the call. There is no way to be 100% sure who they are.
(And no it wasn’t me who merged this all together).

Thanks Chris. I was hoping there might be a way to identify that the caller is legitimate. It can seem quite jarring to have a number that looks like a mobile call you and start asking for you, the recipient, to identify yourself.
From the sounds of things, it doesn’t sound like there’s an easy way to ensure that the callers are from EE, though in this case, I now know this number is legitimate. It seems like, unless this thread or EE confirms, that it’s impossible to know if the caller is 100% legit. Amy updates or insight is always appreciated. Many thanks to all who’ve responded.
