Possible scammer knows a lot of info

I received a call today from someone who claimed to be from EE. They were offering me an upgrade to my phone at first but I said I wasn't interested then they started offering me an upgrade on my sim only plan. It was a couple of pounds less than what I was paying for but with unlimited everything including data. They knew my name, email address, what phone I'm using and how much I pay. Then they started asking me for my surname which was suspicious but I gave it anyway, but when they asked for my dob I started really feeling like this was a scam. I asked them to email me with the offer for which they said they'll do but I haven't received it. If this was a scam, how do they have all this information about me? Does EE still customers info to others?
