just had a call and an email from someone saying they are from EE pro

otions wanting to give me 40% discount off my bill as a loyalty bonus … great 🤗 but then asked me for personal details …I refused and they offered to email proof of their identity and sent me an email with EE logo etc .
I hung up . They rang me back . I hung up again .

anyone else had this ? I’m assuming not genuine?

Hi @Joolie1

Thanks for coming here and flagging this with us.

I am not aware of a promotions team calling customers offering such discount.

If you would like to get this checked please call our customer care team on 150.

Katie 🙂

Anyone can downlod an EE logo from the internet and send an email with it in.

What email address was the email sent from? Anything from EE would have been sent from an ee.co.uk (or potentially bt.com) address

I've just had a call from someone calling on a landlines (not EE) offering a 45% discount from EE promotions department . When I queried whether a scam they gave me a sorect number and a name to contact them on which clearly was not their name.

The number they called on was 01756 752463 and caller ID said this was Bridge Farm.  Assume a scam!!!

Hey everyone,

I’ve had two calls about this.

One was yesterday telling me that as a loyal customer they can upgrade me for free to the newest iPhone and get a discount. I asked how this would possible happen as I upgraded in September. They put the phone down.

The other call was from a mobile number introducing themself as EE customer service and saying as a loyal customer I have been selected for a 40% discount on my bill. Obviously I’d love this (cost of living and all that), but I said no thanks I’m not interested. They abruptly put the phone down. Happy to share the number for your phishing team if they need it to investigate.

Hi @missbamos.

Welcome to the community.

Thank you for letting us know.

If you haven't already, I recommend reporting this number using our Report a scam call form. This will be passed on to our partner Hiya, who’ll use it to improve call protection in the future.
You can find more information about avoiding and preventing scams on our Online Security: Avoid and Prevent Scams | EE Help page.

Debbie 🙂
