EE don’t recognise trade in scams with likewise

I am having an ongoing dispute with EE over their trade in partner and systems.  I sent my iPhone 14 max pro  via Royal Mail to the likewise business. This was via packaging and labelling sent my EE to me. Did the transaction at the post office and off it went.  Fast forward one month and in comes the bill for the phone on my account. And also get cut off from services due to credit rating.  After multiple unhelpful conversation EE position now is that if I don’t pay £800 by 10th August they will cut my 3 phones off.  I’ve been with orange/EE for nearly 20 years and all I got was computer said ‘no’ with no recognition for my loyalty. Even got to the final executive complaints department but they are too bias toward their own profitability to be swayed into siding with a customer.  There are Many posts about likewise losing phones even when all tracking information is checked but the small print gives the complete responsibility to the customer.  The process is sensitive to failure rendering the customer liable for any costs.   EE do not take any responsibility of their process and stick the onus on customers. The EE rep even admitted he knew that likewise were scammers. Who can just afford to pay £800 for thin air.  Gutted about my customer experience here.  I will get cut off on the 10th August so will get 3 Vodafone SIMS to continue my phones after unlocking my devices.   Sadly I will still be charged for my contract after the 10th August due to contract obligations. Shame on you EE. Ironically, I have another case open about woeful coverage in the midlands and north of England.  Last week I had 43 instances of call drop out.  EE advised they were doing to refund a months cost but sadly they hadn’t processed this when I checked.  EE avoiding their promises.  I await the EE letter to send with my complaint to the ombudsmen.  Like I have the time to do that !
I’ve also contacted Matt alright at bbc watchdog.  Goodbye EE. No doubt I will see your debt collectors very soon.

hi Chris.
it’s not acceptable for customers to have to have the anxiety of going through a very long complaints process and then having to contact the ombudsmen.
Stop putting process in front of customers.

Hi @Siran700

This is why I always post my devices by next day royal mail registered /insured post. As you say there are many posts and you learn from them, worst happens I claim against the post office.

You can try:

  • Do you have insurance on the device to claim?
  • Have you checked your home/content policy for cover?

Thanks

A great thanks to EE today for cutting my 3 phones off whilst I am in dispute.   And my charges will continue.  I’ve taken a complaint to the ombudsmen about relentless poor coverage  and a scam trade in. So because my bill now has an extra cost of £880 on it, im no longer in air time credit.  Great loyalty after 20 years of being with EE.  No effort to retain me.  Good bye EE. All they said was that I would be referred to debt collection agencies.  How nice.  Take my advise.  Don’t  do a trade in with likewise.  Dont expect good service  if you travel round the country. Over to the ombudsman.

Something is wrong here. This is happening to a lot of customers. Something must be going wrong and it’s costing customers hundreds of pounds. I am so sorry for what you going through. Let’s take this social media, something must be done.

EE have too much small print and the process is sensitive to failure which where the customer is responsible.  I’ve got an ombudsmen case open and have contacted watchdog.

Just going through this. Both EE and Likewize telling me that the contract is between myself and the post office. Nothing at all. I also questioned the level of protection the trade in bag came with as is was just a normal bag no box. Hence I wrapped it up. Likewize commented "its not our problem". The EE service person asked me if he could close this file down for his records and I said categorically not! NO he then was put out because it wasn't off his disputes list. Lets hope every call is recorded.

Watch this space.

Thank you for posting this as I almost recycled my phone to likewize and then I was told they are not responsible for anything with my phone and that I wouldn’t receive it back if it had been damaged or lost. What a joke!!! Then I’d have to pay full price for the new deal! No way!
