I have today received this sms.

I have recently upgraded and everything in the message is factually correct.

EE called me to discuss the upgrade this morning and everything had went through fine and have email confirmation of the order already.

For this reason I'm sceptical to the authenticity of the text. And if not a legitimate text from EE, how has someone gained such information?

+447860019338 / 07860019338 is the number.

Hi @daleemcguire

We'll look into this for you. How did you take out the upgrade? You mentioned someone called you, was it then?

If so, which number called you?

+447860019338 is the number I received the text from.

I applied for online upgrade on Jan 4th and I agreed to trade in old handset for discount.

This morning I received text from EE saying there was an issue with the order and to call 150, which I did.

Spoke to an EE assistant who said further info on trade in handset was required before order can go through.

Assistant sent me a link from EE asking me to screen share. In this he sent me documents relating to the upgrade which I had to read, follow the instructions and hit confirm, which I did.

Then 2 hours later I received the text from 'EE Digital Assistant'

I thought everything was already signed up for so thought the new text to be strange.

Hi @daleemcguire,

That's a genuine message from EE, confirming your order has been completed and is ready for dispatch.

Hope this helps.

I had one of those messages from +447860019338

Hi Matt, I'm Aimee, your EE digital assistant. Thanks for your upgrade order.

You are signed up for the ###### plan with your #######. We are busy getting your order ready, once DPD confirm your parcel number I will send you a link to track and manage your delivery preferences.

Please CONFIRM if you are happy with your order details or reply to this message if you need help - it's faster than calling us!

The details were correct. The fact it was from a random mobile number made me suspicious. Not a chance I'm interacting with "Aimee".

If this is genuine it is an *awful* way to implement such a system. In fact I would say it is dangerous to confuse people and make it impossible to tell what is genuine and what is a scam.
