Transfer of my BT mobile number to new EE network

Pappagena

When I renewed my BT broadband and mobile contract, I was forced to switch mobile networks.  BT told me they would send PAC to EE and that basically the process should be quite straight forward, bearing in mind that I am 81 and disabled.  I have managed to switch the SIM cards  [quite an achieve for someone who suffers from acute hand arthritis!!] and EE did SMS to confirm switch to new network.  But my BT number has not yet been transferred. All I see is a new EE mobile number.  How does transfer take??

I hope someone can help me as I need the switch to be made rapidly for 2 factor authentication.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for confirming that for me, @Pappagena 😊

If your SIM first connected on Saturday, then it will be Tuesday morning that it starts moving over from BT.

We recommend it can take up until midnight for this transfer to complete, and you may notice service for your number being split between the two SIMs whilst this is going through.

It often can be much quicker than this too though, so fingers crossed this should all be up and running really soon.

Hey there @Pappagena.

Welcome to the EE Community, and thanks for reaching out to us about this too.

Normally when you're making the switch over from BT to EE, the transfer of your number will start 1 - 2 working days from when your EE SIM first connects to our network.

Your BT SIM should still remain active with your existing number up until this point too.

What day did you first start using the new EE SIM?

Peter

Thanks Peter for swift answer!

I switched SIM cards yesterday morning and received welcome SMS from EE, after doing the switch off/switch back on to effectively change mobile network.

So, from what you write I should be patient for another day or two...

Your help is very much appreciated

Hi Peter,

I am glad to report that as you indicated, transfer of my mobile number was finalised early Jan 07.  But I had also received late Jan 06 a rather "nasty" email from BT saying:

Stopping your services
You've asked us to cancel some services at:  …
As you're moving your mobile service to EE, we'll stop your BT Mobile soon. You've chosen to move your mobile service to EE.

What's stopping

    • Mobile number XXXXXXXXX

 You'll also lose:   YYYYY

--------------------------------------

I still would like some explanation of why BT has been sending very unfriendly emails about provider switch when I was forced  [at gun point so to speak] to switch to EE.  One email also says "sorry to see you go. We hope you will be back".

I am also considering campaigning for a new category in the paralympics:  Hand subluxation [acute form of arthritis] victims taking part in smartphone Sim card insertions, three separate runs for Nano,  Micro and Medium.😄

Hi again @Pappagena, I'm really glad to hear that your number has now moved over as expected 😊

The email you've received here certainly wasn't meant to cause any upset; when a customer leaves any mobile network this is sent automatically.

It's just to ensure you're clear on everything that's happening, and gives one final chance for you to query and / or cancel the number port.

I can definitely feed back the content of the message though, especially considering BT Mobile is no longer accepting customers.
