I have a payg ee sim and I want to transfer the number to a new contract (not with ee).
When I attempt to ask for a pac code it says I will be charged, despite hearing that texts for pac codes are free. Despite this, will I still be charged? The payg sim is empty so this is a problem for me.
Also is it possible to take a payg number with ee to another provider in the first place?

It is possible to port a PAYG no. away from EE & it should cost you nowt.
Ofcom rules that texting PAC to 65075 is free.
When you try it that is only a warning that you might be charged for sending to a shortcode as many of them do charge. Just send it, ignore the warning & you won't be charged (which you couldn't be anyway if you have no PAYG credit). You should get a PAC responded to you within a minute.
