When I read about porting number to EE it seems to suggest will be done within 24hrs
I got PAC code from Vodafone on 2nd May and gave to EE same evening.
text this morning (3rd May)
“Hi from EE your port will complete on 07/05/2024”
How come it’s to take 5 days?

It's a welcome addition that EE are now notifying of port-in dates when PACs are submitted, that should avoid a few CS queries.
No port-ins should take longer than a single day to complete unless there is a problem. So if a port-in is set for a Friday, it should be complete during that same Friday.
Ports that complete on Monday should be those that start on the same Monday. In this specific case, it sounds like Friday was unavailable as a porting day thus it's set for the next working day - Tuesday 7th. That may even be deliberate to avoid the potential for external issues with the port over the Bank Holiday weekend.

@bristolian : I forgot this Mon. is a Bank Hol. So I amended my post to complete on Tues, agreeing with EE's prediction.

My new SIM came this morning along with my husband's. His says 5th June, mine says 1st July! I ordered them both on the same day, why is there such a discrepancy?

Hi @K9Drea
Thanks for coming here.
The number transfer should start the next working day after the SIM card has been installed and picked up the EE network.
To check if this will be sooner than the date provided, please call us on 150 and the team will be happy to help 🙂
Leanne.
