What is the reason for having a replacement SIM?

I’ve come from plusnet and keeping my original number don’t know when to put the ee sim

card in??

To start the number transfer from PlusNet please insert the SIM so this will register on EE and the number should transfer the next working day, or if this is completed after 5.30pm, or on a weekend or bank holiday, your number will take two working days to transfer.
