I've recently bought my partner a new phone on a monthly plan, she would like to keep her old number, she currently has a sim only plan,is it possible to keep the old number without having to change to a new one?

Many thanks

Is your partner's existing SIM-only plan with EE, or another operator? It matters...

If the existing plan is with another network, then a PAC (Porting Authority Code) is needed from the existing provider, supply that to EE who will port the number (normally) on the following working day - see https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/getting-started/keep-my-number/transfer-my-number-to-ee

If the existing plan is with EE, then changing phones is generally called an upgrade - had the new phone been purchased as an upgrade, your partner would have kept their number as a matter of course. EE don't transfer mobile numbers between pay-monthly accounts, as this is what the upgrade process is for.

If the second scenario applies, and your partner's new phone was purchased via online or telesales, you'll need to use the statutory 14days "change of mind" return to cancel the new contract and re-purchase the phone as an upgrade.
