I have two SIMs. Can I transfer a number from one to the other?

Hi,

I have two SIMs and two plans with EE. One of these (SIM-1) is a contract that is ending soon, but this is the number that I use day-to-day. The other (SIM-2) is for mobile broadband, but isn’t being used that much - however, the contract lasts for more than another year.

I’d like to cancel SIM-1 and use SIM-2 - but I would also like to keep using the same number as SIM-1. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Hi @whoisme

The only way you'll achieve this is by using a third number as a go-between.

EE will not transfer numbers between pay-monthly contracts, therefore you have 2 options with SIM-1:

1: Give 30days cancellation notice on the pay-monthly account but explicitly ask for the number to be converted to PAYG.

2: Request a PAC and port the number to another network.

Whichever option you choose, you then subsequently do the reverse process and choose to replace the number currently on SIM-2.

@bristolian Thanks for the reply!

I wanted to clarify on this part - how does one go about transferring a number from PAYG to an existing monthly contract?

You ask CS to do it.

In a situation like yours you may also want to consider using a Dual Sim Phone, with the right Phone you will have more flexibility using the two Sims together at the same time on one Device, as an example, you could set one Sim Number for Outgoing Calls and Text whist using the second Sim Number for using the Mobile Data.

I done simular in the past where I've been waiting for one Sim Contract to end, it can be a useful tool and give you more flexibility and control over your Numbers until your contract finishes on the second Sim.
