E-SIM from sovereign British areas

Hi, I’m British and currently deployed to RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus but return to UK on 8th December. My contract is expiring soon with Vodafone and wanted to switch to EE rather than stay for another 24 months with them. Can I activate an EE e-sim from Cyprus if I take out a pay monthly sim only?

Hi @Shshbsshshsh

Thanks for coming to the community.

If you wanted to have a plan that was ready for when you get back to the UK, you can take out a plan with a standard SIM, and then when you are back in the UK, you can move to eSIM in the EE app.

Obviously if you did that now when you are deployed you'd be paying for a SIM you can't use, but the option is there for moving closer to your return home.

@Shshbsshshsh  No you can’t.  You need to be in the UK for this to happen as the eSIM has to be connected to the EE network directly for this to happen.  It doesn’t work via roaming networks.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Ok, thanks for the info!

for anyone else trying to find the answer, as mentioned above this cannot be done with EE.
