Can’t make calls uk

Hi I have just received my new phone and was told to just swap the sim from my old phone, I can’t make any outgoing calls, I can receive texts, calls, emails and use my browser.

What happens when you try making a call? Is this an upgrade phone or a lost/stolen replacement?

Can you send text messages?

It’s an upgrade phone, I can send texts, when I try to make a call nothing happens at all

Here are some simple steps you can try to fix the issue:

1. Restart your phone: Give it a quick restart. Sometimes, that's all it takes to sort things out.
2. Check your network settings: Make sure your phone is properly connected to the network. Go into your phone settings and see if mobile data and voice calling are turned on.
3. Software update: It's worth checking if there's a software update available for your phone. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that cause issues like this.
4. Inspect your SIM card: Take out your SIM card and put it back in, ensuring it's snugly in place. If you have another phone, try putting the SIM card in there to see if the problem persists.
5. Reach out to your service provider: If none of the above works, it's time to get in touch with your service provider. They can check if there's a problem with the network in your area or if there's something else going on with your account or SIM card.

Something must happen. Are you dialling from your contacts list or the phone's dialler? Does using the other means make any difference?

Do you get the onscreen indication that a call is being attempted? Do you get any error messages, be they audible or on-screen?

It appears on screen as normal when I try to make a call but doesn’t go through to the other person. I’m also showing 2 sims at the top of my screen P1 and P2 I’ve tried switching them but makes no difference as one has no service. This appears to be the one that was previously used as it’s listed on the side of my previous calls on the old phone with the same SIM card being used now

Can you try the SIM card back into the old phone, can you make calls? 

What model phone do you now have? 

Do you have two SIM cards in the new phone?

So the call attempts to dial but fails during setup. Does the same SIM still work in your old phone?

I don’t have the old phone to hand until tomorrow evening. It’s an I phone 15pro, I only have one SIM card installed. Could this still be in the switchover period for my new contract even though It’s the same SIM card?

The change from one priceplan to another should not have any direct impact on your phone's ability to make & receive calls, the changeover period is normally immediate.

It would be worth testing the SIM in another known working phone, to identify whether it is the source of the problem, or the phone is.
