Due to go away soon and was wondering what the best way to go about using my phone abroad,I’m pretty clued up when it comes to roaming in Europe but this trip is a Caribbean cruise. Ships WiFi is astronomical price wise and was thinking e-sim but not really sure?

If you are on contract, you may use your usual UK allowances in the EE ROW Zone 3 with up to 500 MB data per day if you have more, when you buy the Zone 3 Pass for £7.50 / day. Otherwise you will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in e.g. https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/bermuda.
If you are on contract, just remember to text ROAMING to 150 before leaving UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your no.
If you are on PAYG, just make sure you had already used your PAYG SIM to make a call or text in the UK.

The thousand dollar question is whether you remain in-range of land-based networks. If you do, and depending how critical usage of your phone is, then you can roam onto those land-based networks and will be charged as if you were in those countries.
If you are outside land-based coverage, then you are captive to paying either for on-board WiFi or costs of onboard roaming - https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs > "maritime, ships, ferries & cruises"
An e-SIM is just an electronic SIM.

Hi thanks for your answer, I think the fact it’s a cruise we’re going on I’ll just stick to using the free WiFi at the different ports we’ll be stopping at, issue being like you said if we’re not in range of any landmast it’s pointless really. Could possibly have to sell a limb to access the ships WiFi which is astronomical price wise!
