Did you mean:

Roaming - data OK, no calls while abroad.

EE - you need a CS chat function as any customer who is blocked from making calls while roaming cannot fix the problem as the only contact method is calling. I can't be the first.

I'm on an all inclusive roaming plan and can't make calls. How do I go about fixing this while abroad please?

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Did you receive a Welcome text upon arrival?

Did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before leaving UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. using a web-calling app over WiFi.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

Thanks for the reply - yes welcome sms each time, and all used to work just fine. Rebooting - no difference. If anyone from EE or OFCOM is reading this it's a real customer service failing which leaves customers stranded when overseas, unable to call customer services to fix. Should be a licence requirement for ee to be contactable via e.g. secure web access/chat to address simple faults whether customers are in UK or roaming overseas. This time just an inconvenience rather than a real medical or travel emergency but...

Pay-monthly customers have a live-chat facility within the myEE app, and EE's publish contact numbers that can be dialled from any working phone.

You've correctly identified that "my roaming isn't working" scenarios are indeed a natural catch-22!
