Roaming Calling Charges

I am totally confused by roaming charges for calls whilst abroad.  I have a Full Works plan which gives included roaming in the EU and various additional countries.  I understand that roaming, in say, India is included and that calls back to the UK will be included and I will not be charged extra.  But what about the following scenarios?

  • I am in India and call an Indian number - is that included or charged extra?  If extra, where can I find out how much?
  • I am in India and call another included country, let's say France.  Is that included or charged extra?  If extra, where can I find out how much?
  • I am in the UK and call India.  Is that included or charged extra?  If extra, where can I find out how much?

Is there a single web page that explains all this as I sure can't find it (or it isn't clear at all).  I am deliberating switching to Three where charges are a lot clearer (if extra for calling in included roaming).  If all included with EE I may stick with EE.

HI @TheMond

Just to add to the great advice from @rkelly1 and @bristolian, if you have taken your FullWorks plan after August 2024, your plan allows you to use your phone abroad in EU and Zone1 countries like you would at home, at no extra cost - this covers local calls/texts in the country you are in, and back to the UK.

Calls/texts from the country you are in to other countries, including those in Zone1, would not be covered by the inclusive roaming allowance, and would incur additional charges.

Hope this covers the questions you had.

Caling from the UK to India will incur a charge as you are not roaming. Calling within a roaming country to the same country and back to the UK would be included if you have this included withn your plan (excluding premium numbers).

The current price information is here but I'm unsure how this would work if calling a different country whilst roaming

Roaming charges are set out at https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs & https://ee.co.uk/roamingrefresh

Regarding your specific questions - when using inclusive roaming, calls "in-country" and back to the UK are included. I won't answer for "in-zone" calls as I'm not completely sure myself. Historically "in-zone" usage applied within the EU.

Calling from the UK to abroad is not roaming and international call rates apply. The previous post has linked to the price guide, there's also web-based info on add-ons to reduce the cost of this - https://ee.co.uk/mobile/international
