When you land you should get a text message with all the information you need to purchase a roaming pass. If you're currently abroad and have not had a text, are you on a pay monthly contract or a pay as you go account?
If pay monthly, did you text ROAMING to 150 before travelling to make sure you were set up for using your device abroad? If pay as you go, have you used the SIM card in the UK to make a call or text before travelling? The SIM would need to be activated on the EE network before this can be used outside of the UK.
