Crucial to your phone working abroad is to ensure roaming is enabled on your SIM, unlocking access to foreign networks.
PAYG - Ensure you use your phone in the UK first, before travelling abroad.
Pay-monthly - Ensure you text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK, and follow the instructions.

Are you on EE PAYG or pay monthly contract.
If pay monthly contract make sure roaming is activated on your account.

You'll receive a Welcome text upon arrival at a country giving your roaming options.
If you are on contract, you may use your usual UK allowances in the EE ROW Zone 3 with up to 500 MB data per day if you have more, when you buy the Zone 3 Pass for £7.50 / day. Otherwise you will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/morocco.
If you are on contract, just remember to text ROAMING to 150 before leaving UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your no.
If you are on PAYG, just make sure you had already used your PAYG SIM to make a call or text in the UK.
