Did you mean:

Outgoing calls from Mauritius.

I have just arrived in Mauritius, I pre purchased a 14 day zone 2 add on which I have received notification that it is active. Data and incoming calls are working, but every outgoing call I try to make is immediately cancelled. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Did you receive a Welcome text upon arrival?

Are you on contract or PAYG? Had you used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before leaving to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before leaving UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. using a web-calling app over WiFi.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi @PhilMcGlassup

Subject to the points in @XRaySpeX  post did you add international codes to your number.

Thanks

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 07953 966 150 for mobile and 0330 123 1105 for Broadband..

EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.
Yes, 0044 code added and first zero removed.
Hi, I have rebooted the phone.
There appears to be only one network, so the auto turns itself back on.
I am on a pay monthly contract, though technically now out of contract.
I didn’t text ROAMING TO 150, have never done that before in other
countries, but data and incoming calls are working fine. Will try your
suggestion of calling CS to check. Thank you.

@PhilMcGlassup ,you may need to try +44 rather than 0044, that may work instead, worth a try.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 7953 966 or +44 330 123 1105.
Thanks, I’ll give it a try

@PhilMcGlassup , you are welcome, hope it works for you, enjoy your holiday if that is why you are there.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 7953 966 or +44 330 123 1105.

I totally understand why regular posters on this forum have copy & paste answers. But this doesn't take any account of what @PhilMcGlassup mentioned in his first post. If he can receive calls & use mobile data, roaming is working!

Therefore all the advice to try enabling roaming, checking for welcome texts etc is nonsense. It is clearly working!

Manually swapping networks is a good suggestion. +44 is an international standard, precisely to avoid needing to use local variations.
