I have relocated to Greece for a few months and I have switched from a contract to pay as you go.I haven’t texted “roaming” to 150 before leaving the UK but I used to be able to use roaming while I was using the contract.
Now I can’t use the phone.I called EE and they said there is nothing they can do unless I switch to contract again with roaming on that will cost me min 29 £ a month. If not, I will lose my number due ti inactivity.
is there really no other way to just switch roaming on again?

All new PAYG SIMs need to be activated on EE's UK network, before roaming is auto-enabled for use abroad. This includes migrations from pay-monthly - 30days notice needs to be given on pay-monthly contracts before they become PAYG, it sounds like your SIM was already outside the UK when this 30days notice completed. It is only then, that the migration is actioned.
Now that your SIM is a new PAYG one, it therefore needs usage in the UK before roaming is enabled. If you've not done this, it will not work abroad until it's first used on EE's UK network.
As to whether you will get roaming enabled if you were to revert to pay-monthly, there's no guarantee either now. You would have a new pay-monthly SIM, and be enabling roaming whilst already abroad. The network-end changes can certainly be done, but they don't come with any guarantees

I have the exact same issue.I called the above number but they told me they can’t activate it for me and my only option would be to switch to a contract that will cost me 29£ a month min.Is there really no other option?

I was on a contract, i just had to contact them and they sorted it out for me. I think you do have to be on contract though, since it's an addon or whatever
