Evening all,
I’ve travelled to France today and ever since I got off the euro tunnel, I have had issues trying to connect to any sort of service.
I have tried to text 150 “ROAM EU” but the text will not go through.
I’ve tried to call 150 or the 07 number I have seen multiple times online. They don’t go through.
I can not text or call anyone. I have no data to use.
although I finally managed to get on the ee app to buy the 7 day eu roaming pass but that still hasn’t worked….
I have also added a £20 spend cap which has not helped at all
I keep seeing people saying turn roaming on or off but my iPhone 15 doesn’t have that. My wife done hers straight away and she has that switch on her phone but mine doesn’t?? Exactly the same phone, provider and only bought a month between🤔
can anyone make sense of what is happening or how I can fix this as I can’t get through to anyone at ee.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

I now have a solution to my issue.
while eating lunch and getting fed up with the issue. I was comparing mine and my wife’s phone.
her phone was easy to set up but she doesn’t have the newest update already so I clicked some random buttons.
I found that on my iPhone, on mobile data. It shows “sims” and I clicked on the primary which then popped up with everything that everyone has mentioned trying like the auto network selection and the data roaming switch….
I have now managed to get it working but it seems that no one really knows about the new update and it changing the phone setting layout.
thanks to everyone who tried to help

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.
Have you used your phone abroad previously, did you receive a welcome text message on first arrival abroad? These are good evidence of roaming being enabled if so. In these cases, manually cycling through all available local networks often resolves issues - toggling flight mode can have the same effect.
If not...On PAYG, roaming is auto-enabled once your phone is used in the UK first. On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Did you do this?
If you are on pay-monthly and now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 9566000 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.

Thanks for the reply.
I am waiting for them to open and then I will be trying to call via Skype.
it took a while after being in France to receive the welcome text whereas my wife came through straight away. I can receive all ee texts but I can’t send or make calls. Also my data will not work at all.
the only local service I keep connecting to is “orange f” but my wife’s is completley different. No matter how many times I click airplane mode. It doesn’t change.
thank you

I have waited for the ee guides to open on the chat service but still no answer from them after an hour. I’ve tried to call the numbers via Skype but it just cuts off without ringing. How is there no way at all to contact ee?
im going to try email but I doubt I’ll get any help through that either

I'm sorry you haven't been able to get in touch with anyone yet @Alex-c2000
What number are you calling on Skype?
