I'm perhaps being a little premature asking for information as this doesn't take effect until next month but I'm wanting to check my understanding of the Roaming Refresh that's coming soon...
Roaming Refresh (click link for changes) seems to be a case of the £25 a month being scrapped. The EU roaming option seems to be either the daily charge or it needs to be an inclusive extra.
The Zone 1 now includes more countries and will cost £25 per week rather than per month. The good thing is, that too can be an inclusive extra if your plan includes it. This is the part that appeals to me as there's some good countries on there (for me) and the EE roaming service is pretty good. I got good coverage in South Africa last year, just couldn't afford to use it. This charges that.
My question though, my current plan, I have Roam Further as my inclusive extra. Do I now have to choose between one of the above options. As in I can change it to Zone 1 and have to pay for any EU roaming. Or change to EU roaming included but have to pay £25 a week instead of a month when I go further afield.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Only every 30 days though. So for people like me that could be in the USA one week and EU the next week it’s no good

My son is abroad and needs a roaming pass but his phone is on my account and I don’t seem to be able to add a pass for him. I could go it for myself earlier in the year. How can I do it for him through my account?

Hey @Lotlots
The short answer is, you can’t. Your son has to do it whilst in the country.
All he needs to do is:
Ensure DATA ROAMING is switched on so he access 4G / 5G in the visited country and then click on the link in the welcome text (my example is India)
Once he clicks on the link, you get the page open with your roaming options:
You see for India there was a daily option and a weekly option:
Click to buy and it immediately works

Hey there - thank you for the reply. He hasn’t got the app so I think he’ll have to download it. I assume it comes through on my bill though.
Thanks again.

You’re more than welcome @Lotlots
Don’t worry, it’s not done via the app.
He clicks on the link in the welcome text, it opens in safari (so long as he has data roaming switched on). It’s straight to the page with the add ons and he click the one he wants.
And yes, will just appear on the next bill.
Happy Friday! 😀
