Abroad in the US, can't call or text 150

I'm abroad in the States and I have a contract with EE that includes roaming. I am able to use data but I can't send or receive texts or calls, including to 150. I have tried turning the phone on and off, as well as switching the network selection.

As you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

I called over Skype. My phone is already set up for roaming. I'm still having the same issues

EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

Did you receive a welcome text message on first arrival? It's as much part of "is my roaming work" as it is the gateway to choosing billing add-ons.

If you haven't, I'd next question whether you're using mobile data or WiFi. Which leads onto whether your roaming facility is actually working.

Interesting I also have just returned from the USA today and over the last few days I’ve been unable to make calls back to the UK, the call would ring the UK number but as soon as the line was picked up, I got a call failed?

Same issue with incoming from the UK, as soon as I answered again call failed.

While you're here, thanks to your Roaming Pass you can use your UK plan allowances.
Calls to countries other than here or the UK are £1.66 per min and texts 76p each. Other charges are the same as when you're in the UK.
