How to transfer my 30-day plan to new phone

I want to upgrade my Oppo phone to a Samsung Galaxy A16 or A17.  I have an EE 30 day plan at £5 per month and I do not need anything more.  I can't seem to buy the new phone online without taking a £10 per month plan which is a lot more than I need. In the shop the phone price is considerably more expensive for some reason, and assistant was not in the least bit interested.  I tried to find out via EE's online chat, how to buy the phone and keep my £5 plan. Adviser had absolutely no idea how to resolve my query but was very keen for me to buy TV, broadband and just about everything except what I wanted!  I have been buying phones from EE for years (at least 4 phones) and this customer service experience is completely different from any of the previous.  Any advice?

It's your SIM that holds your phone number and thus account details.

Buy your chosen phone SIM-free from wherever you decide, and put your existing SIM into it. If your new phone takes a different size SIM to your current one, you can obtain a replacement pop-out SIM from an EE retail store or via EE-CS.

If you get it from EE you'll effectively be throwing the £10 initial top-up away. Try to buy it online from somewhere else at a comparable price, altho' the EE price is competitive even allowing for the £10 throwawy.

Thank you.  It is bewildering how in two attempts through EE's online chat the advisers failed to mention such a simple option.  I will look around, and thank you again for your help.

Thank you for the advice.  I will definitely shop around.
