I joined EE in June 2025 . I want to add my current sim only plan to the upgrade I have been offered (its says upgrade even though I didn't get the phone from EE) . IT will not let me add it when i check out , it keeps asking me to choose another sim .
would it be better to just buy a sim free phone ?
thanks in advance

Hi @RJ20256,
Thanks for visiting the EE Community
If you are looking to upgrade from a SIM only to a device contract, that does require taking a new mobile plan to go along with the device agreement, rather than being able to just carry over your existing SIM only.
If you do want to keep your SIM only plan you can buy a SIM free phone like you say, we do also offer most of the same phones as a SIM free option with 0% interest options available, so worth having a check if the phone you want is there.
