I received a text to say that EE are discontinuing making calls with Alexa devices. My wife is severely visually impaired and cannot dial numbers on a mobile phone or landline. This service was a lifeline for her, being able to say Alexa phone **** and connecting with family and friends. If she was at home alone and needed to call me it was so simple with Alexa to contact me.With the withdrawal of this service she is going to be isolated from friends and family and is extremely upset at EE’s decision to stop using Alexa devices.I have seen similar posts on other forums with people expressing the same sentiment, people who are unable to use normal phones for similar reasons are now going to be cut off from contacting family and friends.Shame on EE or Amazon for not taking into consideration the plight of customers who depend on this service.

Alexa is able to dial anybody in your contact list w/out anything special from EE.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

I was of the opinion that it could only call people with alexa on their devices.

No,if your mobile phone company has an agreement with Amazon,as EE had,you can use the Alexa device as a phone. An EE customer service agent phoned me about the service being terminated and was told the agreement between EE and Amazon was being terminated in January. This is going to be a great miss for my wife as I said in my original post she is severely visually impaired and this was a lifeline for her, being able to ask Alexa to call people.Posts elsewhere have made the same comments about people with disabilities now going to be isolated from friends and family.

No UK networks will have an agreement as of 15th Jan so you won't be able to. I use the system because of disabilities also.

It looks like this has happened due to Amazon as both UK networks have given notice they are stopping the connection.

Good to know it's not EE i should be frustrated with then.

Will just this feature a lot as it was very useful to be notified about incoming calls.
