We are trying to upgrade my son s phone, his mobile is water damaged and therefore can't access code fir upgrade, can anyone help?

The account holder will need to contact CS to process the upgrade, or visit an EE retail shop.
Part of the security process for online upgrades is this verification code, which prevents phones being upgraded by third parties.
