I placed an order last night on the EE website for a iPhone new contract I received a confirmation email!
but noticed in the subject of the confirmation email it says your EE order please call us to discuss? What does this mean ? Did my order go through I paid a £20 upfront cost which went through

It means you need to call EE and verify some details or your order will not be processed.
