@Brits , phones are now expensive, not like when mobiles first came out, with all the technology they have and bring with them, it is the cost of producing them, and it is the companies that manufacture them that set the price.
If you ring customer service, they may offer a better plan, but the upfront cost will not change, this has nothing to do with being a loyal customer, phones have to be paid, one way or another, and that is upfront cost and the rest is in the plan you choose. You do not have to upgrade to a new phone, you can just choose a sim only plan.
