Does friends and family Discount work for buying a sim free phone here on EE?

Hello ALL, and especially to anyone that can help or advise.

I have been with EE for countless years and love the service they provide. 
I have a current SIM only contract with the "friends and family 30% off" applied to it.

I want to get a new iphone here from EE sim free, is there a way or if I can apply the Discount to the phone i want to get?

If anyone knows how to add it to the basket at checkout I'd love to know.
Or should I just contact EE via a call and ask them directly?

@Craighammell87  No you can not use the F&F to purchase just a phone, you need to have a tariff to have F&F applied to it.
