Using phone in Malawi and Tanzania

Anna1975

I’m in Malawi currently and I can only use my phone if connected to WiFi.  I need it to be usable when out and about for all sorts of reasons.  I’ve just added various add Ons (roaming further, texts and calls anywhere) but no change.  Eg I just tried to call 150 with and without 44 prefix but says I can’t make call.  Please advice?

Also can you confirm that if I call via WhatsApp connected to wifi this won’t charge me?  I’m assuming if I join a zoom call then It’ll use up my calling minutes?

thanks for all help

Good morning @Anna1975

Welcome to the EE Community.

Did you activate Roaming before leaving the UK?

Purchasing a roaming add-on does not automatically activate your roaming.

The international number to call is +447953966250.

Using WhatsApp which is a 3rd party app whilst connected to WiFi will not charge you.

Speak soon,

Katie

@Anna1975 : The Roam Further Pass is not applicable there. You are wasting £11.40 pm.

Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.
