I’m currently in the USA and my phone will not make calls I have paid for the extra calls and data but my phone still is not able to make calls

@Mark2dark : Are you on contract or PAYG? Had you used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad?
If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.
Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.
Otherwise you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

Hello thanks for your help.
I cannot contact cs due to my phone not working. I can’t log on to Skype because I had to reset my password for my Hotmail and the only other way to reset this was to activate this was by receiving a text to my mobile. So I’m unable to call or use email the only option I have is WhatsApp

Sorry I forgot to mention I’m on contract. I called EE to let them know I was going to be in the USA and I paid the extra £25 to use calls and data as if I was at home

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.
On PAYG, this is auto-enabled once your phone is used in the UK first.
On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Did you do this?
If you are on pay-monthly and now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 9566000 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.

Hey there @Mark2dark
I hope you've been enjoying your time out in the USA so far.
Is it just your calls that are affected here and you can use data, or are you not picking up any service full stop?
Also what model of phone are you using right now?
Peter

Hello Peter,
I’m having a great time thanks
My data is working fine it’s just my calls that are not working. I had automatic network switched on then I have also tried every network available and still no luck

Sorry I forgot to tell you I’m using the iPhone 15 pro max

Thanks for confirming that, @Mark2dark 😊
Trying a different network was going to be my next suggestion, so you've saved me a step here. I visited the US myself last year and was able to connect via a couple of different networks with automatic selection enabled.
Can you please try calling a UK number by dialling it manually, using the +44 country code in place of 0 at the start of the number?

I’ve managed to fix the problem I set up a new Skype account on my gmail and called the 0800 number. They reset my roaming at there end and then I reset my phone and it worked. Thanks for the help
