Turn off text voicemail

Does anybody know how to turn off the "feature" that sends you a text message with EE's interpretation of what somebody has left on voicemail?

I want to dial my voicemail and hear the ACTUAL message that's been left, not read a poor attempt at interpreting the message!

Text VM OFF to 150 from your mobile to turn off mobile VM.

Bur are you referring to mobile VM or is it 1571 landline VM where you can sometimes receive text-to-voice msgs.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Hi @wanstronian

This will not be an EE Voicemail feature.  It will either be the ‘Live Voicemail’ feature if you have an iPhone or the ‘Take a Message’ feature on the Google Pixel handset.

To turn off on either handset to carry on receiving voicemail like you did before please try the below.  If the below do not work can you share the type of handset you are using.

IOS (iPhone): To turn Live Voicemail

  1. Go to the Settings app gaz2023_0-1762862065891.png

    on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Apps, then tap Phone.
  3. Turn off Live Voicemail.

Google Pixel:

Handle your missed or declined calls with Take a Message feature - Phone app Help

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Tap More gaz2023_1-1762862065891.png

    Settings gaz2023_3-1762862065891.png

    Take a Message.
  3. Turn off Take a Message.

Hi, thanks to everybody that responded. Yes, I was too hasty in blaming EE. Turns out that at the last update, Google helpfully turned on this feature for me. I've disabled it now.

Apologies for the noise!
