Roaming in USA - was it not included??

Hello

I seem to remember roaming for calls, texts and internet access was free included in the monthly plan. Like it is in EU.

Just arrived in the US and EE now says I need to buy a roaming data add on for nearly £6 a day on a daily basis.

Why is this?

@Tagz23 : It is for those on EE Max Plans but these are no longer available.

As it is not in EU, if you are on contract, you may use your usual UK allowances there with up to 50 GB data per billing month if you have more, when you buy for £10 / month or have already as a Smart Benefit the Roam Abroad Pass or you have an EE Max Plan. Otherwise you will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/usa.

If you are on contract, remember to text ROAMING to 150 before you leave UK to ensure roaming is enabled on your account.

I have EE SIM 40 GB plan with unlimited calls and texts.
I seem to remember using data in the US was included free of charge.

Have just arrived in the US and turns out I need to buy a daily roaming pass for 500MB

Is this a new thing.

Makes me want to buy a local pay as you go SIM and ditch EE while here

The most cost effective solution is the Roam Abroad pass - https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-and-international/roaming-data-add-ons/what-is-the-roam-abroa...

£11.40/month allows use of your existing voice, text & data bundles in the USA

£10 pm according to the article @bristolian linked.
