I am travelling to Canada very soon and am on PAYG. I have been told on LiveChat that I cannot use my phone. That it only works in EU - and that I can't buy a roaming allowance for Canada.
I was informed that the webpage about using EE PAYG in Canada is incorrect.
Very confused and disappointed. I have been advised to switch to contract, which I'm not willing to do. Currently looking at other PAYG providers to sort something out as temporary measure.
Would be interested to hear of others experiences
Thanks
Tracey

Thank you for your response.
Obviously, it is still a little concerning that you are saying I can use the EE PAYG phone in Canada (just paying through my phone credit or data add on not my allowances) but your colleague says it won't work at all.
I hope that you are the one that is giving the correct answer as it doesn't fill me with confidence to get two conflicting answers from EE.
Many thanks though for swift reply.

Hi, forgot to ask. How do I know if my phone is set for international roaming (rather than EU roaming). I sent a text ROAMING to 150 but it didn't come back with any info and I'm not sure if I need to do anything - in the hope that my phone does work.
Many thanks

Hi @Tracey98,
I'm sorry you weren't given the correct information the first time you contacted us.
All pay as you go accounts have international roaming activated by default.

Rather a delay in getting back to this topic. But wanted to thank you James and to reassure othersthat may be travelling abroad and like me worried about whether PAYG phone can be used.
My phone did work but as you stated not the PAYG allowances so there is an extra cost but you can make calls, use data, texts etc - i.e. I had to pay from my credit amount for calls etc and buy data but it did work which was what I was concerned about.
Cheers
Tracey
