I am abroad, outside the eu. I am able to phone the uk, however, I cannot phone eu countries or even numbers in the country I’m in. I can however text.
the automated response when I try to phone says “ account holder has restricted access “, which of course I haven’t.
I am using all the correct country codes.
I have spent a total of 40 minutes waiting for and talking with the ee helpline, but they cannot see why my access is restricted. They reset my account but that didn’t work.
Any ideas welcome.

Please could you confirm if you have Roaming and Calling Abroad enabled within your My EE settings?
