I have a dual SIM Samsung and have never had any issues with EE data before. After getting back from Germany, where I used my German SIM for mobile data, I noticed that EE mobile data has been extremely intermittent no matter whereabouts in the UK I was, so it's not just a local signal issue.
I've tried everything in the Settings that I possibly can, manual network selection etc. etc., but the problem persists. It'll show 4G or 4G+ consistently, but most of the time only the upload arrow is active. Texts take ages minutes to go out and I can't load websites or apps at all except for short periods where both arrows will be active. Needless to say, it's not working well enough to allow me to do anything on my phone while I'm out and about.
I've had to go back to using my other (German) SIM card, which registers with O2 when roaming in the UK - so it's not an issue with my device.
Thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone else has been having similar issues, before I go into the store to try and get a new SIM card as everything else hasn't worked.

Hi @Jen_94
Which is the Esim and which is the normal SIM?
Have you tried restarting your device?
Thanks

Hi @Northerner - they are both physical SIMs. I switch my phone off every night, so the device has had plenty of restarts. I have also switched flight mode off and on, selected the network manually vs. auto, switched private DNS from auto to off and back... All to no avail unfortunately.

Hi @Jen_94
If you disable your German SIM slot does the signal quality improve.
I assume network selection is set to auto?
It could just be EE network is poor, which seems to be the case at the moment.
Thanks

Hi @Northerner
Disabling my German SIM does actually help to some degree, thanks for the tip!
Do you know why this might be the case, as it never was an issue before? I don't really want to keep it switched off, as that's what the individual settings on which SIM is used for data/calling etc. are for. Not sure why the two SIMs using EE or O2 network respectively suddenly seem to be at war with each other (or one more so than the other). I'm not super tech-savvy, so not sure what to do about it...
Cheers,
Jen

Hi @Jen_94
It's maybe data sharing, this article explains it:
You might be seeing the combined signal. Disabling one SIM seems to suggest this maybe the issue. Reactivate your German SIM and try this out.
Thanks

Hi @Northerner
Both auto data switching and wifi calls are enabled, as they were before when I had no issues. With both SIMs enabled as before, the EE mobile data connection is still having the same issues.
Would you suggest disabling data switching?
Thanks 🙂

Hi @Jen_94
Yes try it and see what happens.
Thanks

Hey @Northerner
Unfortunately, disabling data switching does nothing. So right now my only two options are
- using my German SIM for mobile data as this works via O2 roaming
- completely deactivating my German SIM so my EE mobile data works correctly
As I want to be able to receive calls or text messages to my German number, #2 isn't really a good option, which means right now I'm basically not using my EE data allowance at all once I leave the house... No idea why suddenly the two networks are at war with each other to the point where they seem to interfere, but only one way.
