I recently lost my sim and am heading back to the UK today so would like to continue using the service I am still paying for. Do I need to contact EE or can I go to the shop and get a new sim with the same number same day?

Sorry to hear about your SIM. Yes, you can pop into an EE Store to get a replacement SIM. You'll need to take some photo ID with you.
