I have gone on holiday to Amsterdam and my calls or data won't work , keeps saying emergency calls only ,won't find a network and my data is on and roaming but won't connect , this is leaving me in a vulnerable and dangerous place as I am unable to find my location and my way back to my hotel which is resulting in me staying in the hotel for wifi ,my father has just had a major op and I need to be updated as he is still in high dependency, this is turning out to be the worst holiday ever !

I have done all the phone restarts , checked sim , still nothing won't allow me to log on to any of the networks manually searched and finds nothing in search automatically

I have the new Samsung s24 ultra

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.

On PAYG, this is auto-enabled once your phone is used in the UK first.
On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Did you do this?

If you now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 0798586 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.

Hi @michellebarlow1

I am very sorry to hear this and hope your father is OK.

Do you have a pay as you go or pay monthly SIM?

If pay monthly, can I check did you text ROAMING to 150 before travelling to make sure roaming was fully activated?

Leanne.

Hi pay monthly and yes and even tried this one you can do while you are away , travel to 150 and still nothing

Hi @michellebarlow1

To activate roaming you would need to text ROAMING to 150 before travelling to make sure the account is set up to use abroad.

If roaming is not activated, you would need to call us from a different phone on +44 (0)7953 966 150 and our mobile guides can access the account and get the fully activated for you.

Leanne.

Bit hard really to use another phone when I'm on my own outhere , also have paid the £25 for the month pass and still nothing, this is bs this tbh

I am very sorry @michellebarlow1

If you use any third party calling apps such as Skype you can call us and get the roaming looked into.

Please see our Contact EE for all numbers you can use to get in touch.

Thankyou do much , I called via Skype and apparently data roaming wasn't selected as standard when I took my phone bundle of unlimited , calls, texts data etc now sorted, time to explore without fear of getting lost anymore xx
