I called EE customer service last Monday and told them I was going to Portugal They said, no problem. I followed instructions - I HAVE NO COVERAGE. HELP!

Are you on PAYG or pay-monthly? PAYG customers are auto-enabled for roaming.
Pay-monthly users need to activate roaming which you can do via your myEE online account. Follow Usage Controls, and select "international roaming" & "call abroad & premium rate".
Have you also tried restarting your phone as a precaution?

Does roaming show as active in your My EE Account?
