Can’t use Data Roaming in USA

Tinio1
Explorer

I’ve just recently moved from PAYG Sim to a 24month contract w/ a new iPhone 13 Mini. I used its data etc at the airport before leaving to go to the USA for business. I have a Roam Abroad Pass add on as my 1 free add on to the contract, but for some reason I can’t use my data, connect to a network over here.

The network & coverage bars at top right of phone are all flat & state ‘SOS’. Please could someone help me get my data working/connect to a network.

Many thanks,

Martin

A billing extra doesn't enable Roaming on your a/c. If you didn't enable Roaming before you left UK, you will need to call CS. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. via Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

@Tinio1 : Can you make calls & texts?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Hello there, thank you for responding so quickly!

I can’t make/receive calls or texts. I’ve tried selecting all different networks manually & switching the phone on & off many times. Nothing changed, just kept getting ‘SOS’ on top right of screen.

The one thing I didn’t do before leaving was text ‘ROAMING’ to 150 before I left, this was  because I had previously received a message from ee to say, “We've added the Roam Inclusive Extra to your account.”

Hi @Tinio1

Can you check your My EE Account to see if roaming is activated?
