Can’t make calls when had further roaming add on in the US

Why can’t I make calls in the US when I’ve had  an add on further roaming add on

That's just a billing add-on to help you pay for your services while roaming when your a/c is enabled to roam, but it doesn't of itself allow you to roam.

I can only send text via iMessage  , no calls , no texts , only data and yes I did turn roaming on before leaving the UK and yes I did text roaming to 150 in the UK ,  even had a text message off EE welcome to America, after that no calls , no texts ( only via iMessage )  . Go further add is a waste of money . 
husband  and I both have ee  he can text and make calls

If you received a welcome text and are able to use mobile data - then you must have had a mobile network connection.

In order for that to work, international roaming must be enabled.

Your issue may therefore have been an international call bar. The Roam Further pass is an excellent offer, but is purely a billing add-on and is separate from ensuring the roaming & international calling facilities are active.

see these posts. Something to do with handset compatibility with the ATT network. ATT only allows specific models to use Volte in their network.

Texts via iMessage aren't actually texts but just data.

Just to check, did you text ROAMING to 150 while in UK or was it ROAMING PASS to 150? They have diff. functions & effects (stupidly IMHO!).
