I have a travel data pass ( outside the EU) activated before I left Uk and I activated roaming too. I have a spend cap of £40 which is apparently enough. Today I tried to phone a Uk number for the first time since I was away and I’m getting messages saying calls are all blocked. I have tried changing the foreign mobile network but I’m getting the same message regardless. I have a monthly contract. My husband is on the same account as me and he isn’t having the same problem despite not having the data pass etc.

Hi @Wjs57
Have you restarted your device since you arrived.
You may need to speak to EE CS and if you can access wifi then you can download Skype and use the number in my signature.
Thanks

Did you receive a welcome text message on arrival abroad?
Does this problem happen on calls to all numbers? Or just this specific number?
On the assumption that this message is audible, is it the same voice regardless of which network you're connected to?

It’s a different voice on each network abroad that I have tried . I don’t now recall if I got a welcome message . For most of the time I have been here I haven’t phoned the Uk . I have used what’s app for friends and family .

Thank you so much for suggesting using Skype. It worked brilliantly and the problem got sorted out after a fair bit of working things out. Oddly ( given that I had the EE recommended spend cap for roaming abroad ) it was the spend cap that was causing the problem. Take that off and I can make calls . The only problem is that I don’t want to keep it off permanently in case someone steals the phone but it’s a quick fix for now.

Hi @Wjs57
Great stuff 👍🏻
You should consider activating your SIM pin. Then if the sim is removed or the device restarted you will need to enter a pin before the sim can be activated. This is an added level of security.
Thanks
