At least 10 spam calls a day

I am getting at least 10 spam calls a day. They come from a range of numbers, from Cities all over the UK and many come from mobile numbers. I have my iPhone setup to ask the unrecognised caller to identify themselves and of course they very rarely do. So, when I get these unrecognised calls I add them to a contact called SPAM which is a blocked number, but these people clearly have clever enough systems to not use the same number frequently as the numbers are always different.

I want to know what EE is doing about banning these spam calls in the first place (I don't accept that EE cannot do anything about them) and I would also like to ask if anyone has asked EE for a new number to eradicate these invasive calls and if they have, has it worked?

Hi @marksw999

Welcome to the community.

I see @Chris_B has given you some information about how to report these calls. Each call that is reported gets investigated through a security team. You can find more information on our How to avoid and prevent spam help page.

Changing the number can stop these from coming through. But, will not prevent it from happening again in future.

@marksw999  EE doesn’t know that the number calling you is for spam purposes so how does EE stop these from being placed.   You reported the number by texting CALL to 7726 and then forward the number when prompted.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

I am not able or technically capable of giving this forum a solution as to how EE should stop these calls. They have enough development resource to come up with a solution themselves. For me to forward a number by text every time I get a call is ridiculous, purely because of the amount I receive through my working day.

Let's just presume that a technical solution is available to stop spam calls, and that it could be deployed tomorrow if EE were to stop intentionally delaying it with the sole purpose of causing customer complaints... And obviously every other fixed & mobile network operator is doing the same, after all it's only EE customers who are affected....

Unless that system is 100% infallible against false-positives and missed-spammers, how happy would you be if a genuine call, "an important call", was inadvertently blocked? Or if not all spammers were stopped and some still got through?

I'd assume you'd be complaining pretty pronto.

@marksw999  Are you saying that EE should verify every call before it goes through to you.  If that’s the case I’m sure there will be some privacy law involved in this.   EE and no other network knows that a certain number is going to be used for a spam call when that call is made.

Try registering with the TPS service  ( HERE  ) it might help. But EE can not filter calls made to you. No network can it’s a call at the end of the day and what that call is for the networks don’t know unless you start to report that call/number to get them shut down.
