Poor 5G signal

My 5G signal has been so poor recently, even though with full bars. 

I’ve tried all the tips; turning airplane mode on/off, mobile data on/off, restarting phone etc but none seem to help. The coverage checker in my area is also showing as “great/good coverage”. 

My plan contract ended in Nov 2024 and my phone contract ends this Nov so I’m not able to get an early upgrade. I understand that even though my plan contract ended, the plan itself will still carry on as before.

This is a little contradictory - if you have full bars, then your coverage is excellent. I think what you're trying to report is that your data speeds are poor? If so - can you quantify what sort of speeds you are getting, and whether you're having problems in a specific location or if they are more generalised?

It sounds like you've used the "check coverage" option on the status tool, which would confirm what you've already mentioned - you have excellent coverage. What does the "check status" option show? This is the facility to check for known issues, and report problems if appropriate.

It sounds like you have a FlexPay plan, where the phone-loan & airtime plan are separated. You're correct to understand that the finance loan repayments are on a fixed-term basis and payments cease once repaid, whilst the airtime is on a rolling minimum-term basis which continues until you explicitly make a change.

Thank you for your reply and assistance in the matter. 

I understand it sounds contradictory, however the bars are showing as full which would lead me to believe I would have excellent coverage but that’s not the case. The “check status” is also showing as good network so I’m confused as to where the issue is. 

The 5G issues are not confined to one specific area, unfortunately it happens on a daily basis at different places.

Why do you think you don't have excellent coverage?

I've made a supposition as to the issues you're having, but what actually are they? You've not said. Is it problems making or receiving calls? Problems using mobile data? Issues sending or receiving text messages?
