EE recently upgraded my locL mast. I now get a 5G symbol in a white box which I understand  means that 5G is around  but not connected to. I have this symbol on my s21 and my wife's s22. We get around 80meg dl speeds which is 4G+.

EE coverage checker says that I shod have full 5G in my area. However when I speak to tech support they say that 5G is not in my area.

To further complicate matters whe  I put my sim in a friends Iphone 13 DL speeds are over 200meg. Tech support have checked the account and can see the Iphone is connected to 5G but both Samsungs are not. They are all in the same location.

Any suggestions what is going on as tech support admit they don't know ?

  • Open Settings and select Connections.
  • Select Mobile Network.
  • Tap Network mode and then select the option with 5G connectivity.
  • Swipe down on the screen to open the Quick panel.
  • Tap the Power icon, and then tap Restart.

Hi,. Yes I have tried everything even reset the phone . The fact it is two different Samsung models affected makes me think that either EEs signal or Samsung is rubbish at picking up 5G .

Do you have any problems using your phone for calls, texts or data?

It sounds like a nearby site to yours is in the process of being 5G-enabled, and this may be causing the signal indicators you're seeing.
