Upgrade prices

Hi, I have been a customer for over 10 years for 2 phone contracts. I eventually downgraded to sim only as i dont need the latest phone. But my son gets upgraded with the newest ones usually.

I looked at upgrading myself the now back onto a monthly contract and new phone and also for my son too. The prices are expensive. way much more expensive than other online companies offering deals.

I pay £6 for a sim only 1GB data with a free data extra that takes me up to 15GB. Which is fine if i want to watch short football highlights or whatever. I can not watch anything of length on data though or it would all disappear.

My son is on a £67 per month contract on a iphone 14 with 50GB data and an extra free 50GB extra so he has 100GB total which nowadays isnt much either.

I have seen new contracts with other company's ranging from £22.00 per month for iphone 16e 128GB , 100GB data upwards to £30 ranging from 200GB to unlimited with a new iphone 16e.

I dont see any other option than basically ending my contract with EE and going to get a much much cheaper deal elsewhere. Which makes it a bit more appealing to leave EE is I just recently moved house and at new address the coverage is terrible and the iphones arent the quickest jumping onto wificall either if needed and other networks the coverage is good as friends who are on a different network they have full bars on their phone at my new house.

Why this post?

well in order for me to stay with EE you guys need to price-match what I can get cheaper elsewhere and also guarantee coverage at home wither that be with a standalone EE call booster or what........or whatever you have available which can give me decent coverage at home.

EE What can you do for me ? Can you price-match ?

I'd question whether 100GB is "not much" or that 15GB is insufficient for anything other than short video clips. The usage between video providers can vary, but broad-brush is that ~3GB for an hour of HD video shouldn't be far off - basing this on YouTube, Virgin TV Go, Sky Sports and Netflix.

On the network-side, a "standalone call booster" is often suggested to resolve in-home coverage issues, but doesn't really exist. Unless you're in a location where a fully-functional network site is justified, WiFi-calling is the recommended mitigation for indoor coverage issues.

You're bound to find locations where one network is better than another, or that one network is alone in not working, and EE is not unique in being unaffected by this. On a broad national basis, EE does tend to provide a more consistent service than others - but it sounds like you've been unlucky in finding some poor areas for EE. Everyone needs to choose the best overall network for your individual needs - factoring in overall coverage, data & call performance & pricing. On-screen bars are not the absolute measurement of a good network, but are one factor - to take one example, you can have full bars but poor data performance, or excellent speeds with "only one bar".

Budget providers do tend to focus on price and can often be cheaper - it's a personal decision to be made, on whether other aspects of their service will meet your requirements.

Hi @hitechthereal1

Based on your comments, buying history and usage you are maybe best off staying on the SIM only deal or just upgrading the SIM only and buying your handset SIM free from Apple if you're looking for an iPhone.

In addition as you say coverage is poor at your new address and you're best off looking at carriers which offer better coverage, maybe in time EE coverage will improve and you might consider returning.

Lastly if you want to stay speak to EE CS on 150 about what can be offered.

Thanks
